Your afternoon begins with a hot air balloon flight above Hegra, Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site. As the balloon rises with the desert wind, sandstone tombs and canyons unfold below. A Saudi Cultural Storyteller shares the folklore, geology, and history of the civilisations that once called this land home, a tribute to AlUla’s oral traditions, told from above.
After landing, the journey continues into the Sharaan Nature Reserve. Led by a dedicated Conservation Guide, you’ll travel through a land once used as a hunting ground. The route winds through open plains, sandstone formations, savannah-like terrain, and even rare hexagonal patterns.
As twilight settles across the reserve, you’ll arrive at a lantern-lit camp nestled within towering canyon walls. A private cabana awaits, where you’ll enjoy a four-course dinner inspired by South African braai traditions and infused with local Arabian flavour, served under a sky full of stars. Following dinner, gather around a telescope for a guided stargazing session led by our expert astronomer. As constellations emerge, you’ll explore the skies above AlUla and hear the celestial stories told through the lens of regional tradition.
Once all the realms of AlUla are unveiled, the land begins to speak. The AlUla Projection Show: a handcrafted sand animation paired with cinematic visuals brings stories of ancient kingdoms to life across the canyon walls.
For those who wish to continue, a short nocturnal nature walk closes the evening. Guided by UV lights and your Conservation Guide, uncover the desert’s hidden flora and creatures of the night.
This journey connects sky, land, and story — inviting you to see AlUla through the eyes of its past, present, and ever-evolving future.
